LEGO instruction booklet cover depicting a police telephone booth and two police minifigs each with a police motorcycle

#6522 Highway Patrol

#6522 Highway Patrol was released in 1987 and I got it that same year in September, but unfortunately I can’t remember from whom or on what occasion.

This is indeed a very simple set with minimal instructions so I won’t bother showing pictures of the build process.

I had no problems finding all the original pieces in my collection, although some of the prints are really worn. Also, I notice I could have cleaned the motorcycle parts better!

As a kid, I found the black slope with the phone print to be the most useful part from this set, along with the trans-light-blue panels that I actually had two of from another set as well.

Before rounding off I’d like to share the alternative builds from the back of the cardboard box. I think the one with the police officers as circus acrobats is hilarious!

With just eight parts from the phone booth and the details from the motorcycles I guess there’s just not much to work with for a LEGO designer trying to come up with multiple alternative builds. Myself, I would probably have explored creating some kind of stunt jump using the white slope, also within the theme of daredevil performances…
